In round 7 of the ALFG season the strong Lions took on the Stuttgart Emus under the TV Tower in Ehrenfeld. The Emus were unfortunately a bit short on numbers so 5 Lions pulled on the Green and White jumper to make it a full game.
First quarter: The Lions came out slow and the Emus took advantage of it kicking the first goal of the game. The Lions players then woke up and started to play football and ended up winning the first quarter kicking 4 goals to 1.
Second quarter: After receiving an ear full from Coach Ant, the Lions started to improve their game and picked up the pace. There was a lot more movement on the ground and the desperation for the ball started to show. The defence held strong and the Lions ended up kicking 6 goals to 0
Third quarter: After the long break the Lions came out as we expect them in the premiership quarter, full of run, strong leads, great skills and lots of talk and it showed on the scoreboard. The Emus had no answer to the Lions as they were cut to shreds all over the ground, the Lions ending up with 9 goals and the Emus scoreless.
Fourth quarter: The Lions were still hungry and continued as in the 3rd quarter winning most contests and moving the ball into the dangerous forward line with ease. The back line again kept the Emus scoreless and the Lions forwards kicked another 5 goals. It was a fantastic second half of football.
The final score in a very lopsided game saw the Lions defeating the Emus 24.23.167 to 1.1.7.
The Lions got a lot out of the game and thank you to Stuttgart for making the trip. Although they didn’t have their strongest side they still didn’t give up all day (Never take a step backwards).
Big thanks to Andi, Tim B, Moman, Andy and Marti for playing for Stuttgart. Andi having a blinder and probably Stuttgart’s best player on the day.
After the game most of the Lions headed to the Underground to enjoy the night and say goodbye to Thomas Wendt, a true Lion playing his last game and who will be sadly missed when he goes to Australia. Thanks Thom from all the Lions…Roooaaarrrrr
The Lions take on Hamburg in Round 8 on the 13th August under the TV Tower in Cologne. Training will continue to be hard as the season approaches finals time.

Great stuff.
