Luke, the season is almost done. How do you feel as the rising star in the umpire sky?
I hate it. I can't wait to play with the team again. Its never easy watching your team play and not being able to join in. Hopefully it will be a while before I have to do that again!
By the way, your nose looks even better after the adjustment in Berlin, but let´s get serious. How content are you with the past months of the Rheinland Lions?
I'm very content. I feel we're going through a transition this year. Many of our experienced players are getting older and are not able to devote as much time to the club as much as they'd like to. But at the same time we're seeing an influx of younger players full of enthusiasm but lacking experience. We're working hard to train them but of course it takes time. So at the moment we're trying to find an even balance and keep the club going forward. It's an exciting time to be a part of the Lions.
Next game day the Lions play against Hamburg and on the same day our big rivals, Munich Roos, play in Berlin against the Crocs. Who do you expect to win?
There's no doubt that Berlin have taken a big step forward this year. They have a strong core of experienced Australians and in this league, experience is worth it's weight in gold. I think this combined with the home ground advantage will result in a Berlin victory. As far as the Rheinland v. Hamburg game, umm, Rheinland of course!
The last two games of Rheinland are against their big rivals Munich and Berlin. Are the Lions prepared to pass this task and get into the finals?
Without a doubt. Transition or no transition, the Lions have one focus this year and that's to win the Premiership. We're more determined than ever to make up for the disappointment of last year.
Who will be the best and fairest of this season? Give us a hint as the clubs Best and Fairest of 2010.
It's not so easy to say. There are many people with the potential to win B & F - there's plenty of talent on the team - but what it comes down to in the end is who plays the most games. Whoever wins will not be allowed to miss too many games. My pick is that it'll be one of the M's...
